Free Hi-Res Old Book Textures – part 1

Who says we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover? Apparently they know nothing about design and textures ;). I have collected a bunch of these vintage books from library sales with the intent on making some textures. There’s something cool about the way a book wears out. It gives it character.
So this texture pack (part 1) includes high resolution scanned images (3000-5000px) of old fashioned book covers (cross hatched cloth and paper), stained pages and library date cards with stamped due dates from 60s and 70s. I also scanned some images of the book sides that have unevenly cut pages. Check out the pictures for these old library books textures below; download link is at the bottom. Wow–priceless! I’ve been trying to achieve results like these for years, scanning old notebooks and papers, wrestling with css and graphics programs to make them work. You really should be charging for your designs but, speaking as one who has never made a dime from my webs, I’m sure thankful that you don’t. Bless you.

This is something I’ve been meaning to do! I love how old books look and feel. So many folks seem to be throwing them out because of technology. As an artist, I find nothing more sophisticated than a big beautiful wall full of books.
