Free Vector Safety Pins + Hi-Res Images
Since everyone likes sticky notes, here’s another way of placing them in designs – Safety Pins! So just like with the paper clips, I’ve put together some safety pin images and vectors. The scans are high resolution (the big pins are around 2400px in width)
As you can see in the screens below, there’s a variety of safety pins, both closed and open. Some of them are bent, some have some rust and some of the smaller ones are made of brass. Drop me a note or share the post if you find them useful. Thanks!
Really very nice
thankyou so much

man, you get better & better!
I’m stuck! I would really like to use a safety pin within a recipe scrapbook I’m building up for my daughter. But I don’t know how to remove just one of them onto my page in photoshop, please can you help me to achieve this.
Thank you
Rod
Hi Rod,
Open the safety pins image in Photoshop. From the tools menu grab the Lasso Tool (L) and drag an outline around the pin that you want (outline doesn’t need to be perfect). From the top menu Edit > Copy and then go to the art you are working on and Edit > Paste and you should have the pin as a separate layer. To get rid of the remaining white areas around it: use the Eraser Tool (E) or go to top menu Select > Color Range, click on the white area, hit the OK button and then Delete on your keyboard.
Hope that helps!
Another great job, thank you! Won’t you consider sharing a few tips to clean scanned images to look as professional as yours do?
I use the pen tool to do selections but sometimes am still left with bits that I then have to remove with the Eraser Tool and they never look as good (and clean) as your scanned images.
Oops, I’m sorry, I forgot to say please when I asked if you won’t consider sharing a few tips for cleaning up scanned images. But I’m like a kid in a candy store when I am on your site, don’t know what to download next as there as so many excellent things.
Welcome to my candy store :)
It all depends on what the image is. In general I add a white background layer behind the scanned image and then I erase the “empty” areas. To avoid getting harsh edges you can use a soft edge brush, but do be careful because soft brushes might go slightly into your objects and give them blurry edges. One way to avoid that is to go into Quick Mask to have better control over the selection.(shortcut key Q or top menu > Select > Edit in Quick Mask Mode). In some cases you can also play with Image > Adjustments > Selective Color. Also if you have dust particles on your objects, you can easily take them out by using the Clone Stamp Tool.
Thank you for the suggestions, Antoniu. I took off a beautiful fake leather flower from an old shoe the other day and will use your method when I have scanned it. I guess it also helps to have a steady hand when doing these things, lol
Very cool! Thank you!
Your site is wonderful and very useful. I’m blessing you every time I visit it. Keep with the great work. Many many thanks.
These are all so great – thank you for sharing them. I am an amateur so am a little overwhelmed! I would like to use safety pins on scrapbook pages. How do you make the pins look like they go through the paper and come back through at a different place? Also, would it be easier for a beginner to do this with images or vectors? Thanks again.
Hi Judy,
First look at some real pictures of how it looks. One way would be to just use the eraser tool to take out the part of the pin that goes behind the paper; then on a separate layer you can apply some light shadows with a soft edge brush tool. Another way is to cover the pin with a another layer so it looks as if it goes behind it. I would suggest looking at some tutorials on working with layers and layer masks. Search for some on youtube. If you are doing scrapbook pages then you might want to work with the images.
thank you for your generousity!!!
great stuff. I’m not doing what i should be doing because i’m dazzled by your great work and enjoying messing around with all the freebies. thanx
Love your stuff. I’m actually a graphic design student but still don’t have the knack of creating these details yet. It’s a great time saver for my little projects. Love these especially! :)
Heartfelt thanks for the download file

How make the shadow on paper when safety pin though the paper. Any help? Any keyword for tutorial? Thanks
Hi Lala,
I’m sorry I don’t have a tutorial for that at the moment. As a quick guide in Photoshop:
• add a paper background
• place the pin on top – add a drop shadow and convert it to a smart object
• add a layer mask for the smart object pin and hide the areas that would go behind the paper.
• add a new layer and add a bit of gradient on top of those hidden areas to make it look as if the paper is going around the pin.
• add a new layer under the pin – use a brush to darken the area where the pin goes under the paper to make it look like a small tear.
Hope that helps a little! :)
Everything is really great here, but most of all I love the fact that you actually ANSWER all the questions!
thank you sooooooooooo much!!!! this things can be ridiculous but trust me, when you a fashion designer student you don’t have lots of time to do this things…i was really nedding this!
