Free Hi-Res Wooden Scrabble Letter Tiles

fzm-Wooden-Scrabble-Letter-Tiles-01

Here’s an image with letter tiles from a vintage scrabble board game. There’s a total of 60 wooden letters A to Z including two blank tiles.

The image is high resolution and each wooden tile (around 610x670px) has nice wood grain details. So have fun spelling stuff and share the post or leave a comment if you find them useful. Thanks!

any tutorial of how to use these in photoshop? I just got CS5 and would love to do some scrabble pages to frame for a friend! Thanks!

    • antoniu says:

      Hi Shannon,
Open the scrabble letter tiles image in Photoshop. Grab either the Rectangular Marquee Tool or the Lasso Tool, drag an outline around the tile you want to use and from top menu Edit > Copy. Make a separate canvas (File > New) and set the desired width and height and then Edit > Paste. Go back to the tiles image and repeat the process for each letter that you need. When you are done pasting all of them on the new canvas you will have each letter on a separate layer so you can select and drag them around to spell your words.

  60. Peggy says:

I have downloaded these letter, but where do I find them on my computer ?

    • antoniu says:

If you haven’t changed the settings it usually ends up in a folder called Downloads C:\users\your user name\downloads. The image is in a zip file (fzm-Wooden-Scrabble-Letter-Tiles.zip) – if you right click on it there should be an option to extract it. Hope that helps!

  61. Cheryl says:

Am I doing something wrong, I downloaded it and extracted it, but it comes up as one image with all the letters, they are not individual. Please help, I am ot very adept at downloading things! :)

    • antoniu says:

No, they are as one image – you need an image editor like Photoshop to copy and paste the letters to spell something. There are also some free ones like Paint.net or Gimp. And just search for tutorials on youtube on how to work with layers in the respective program.
Also check out my above comment here. Hope that helps! :)

  62. Brilliant! Love these – I’ve been looking for realistic Scrabble tiles for a long, looooong time…

  63. Shelly says:

Please add a “Pin it”” for Pinterest(dot)com as a way to share re your “If you like this post, please share it.” I found this download via Pinterest, but the board did not have it linked here -but fortunately, your site was noted on the bottom corner! I have pinned it with a direct link. Thanks!

    • antoniu says:

      Hi Photo-Mommy,
Not really sure on that – this is not part of my terms – as far as I know scrabble tile images may be used only for personal or editorial purposes.

  98. poppy says:

These are awesome but can you please make a font of them!

  99. Elise says:

These are awesome, and thank you so much for sharing. As with all your files, once a person downloads and extracts files and places image in given program such as gimp or photoshop then what? I’m so sorry, I’m a complete idiot when it comes to these programs. From here, can I just print out on cardstock from any ink jet printer? And use on card, project, etc.?

    • antoniu says:

      Hi Elise,
It depends on what you what to do. If you want to just print them, then you should be able to do that from any of those programs. If you want to do some editing (spell words) then you need to select the needed letters and copy and paste them in a new document. I don’t have a guide for that at the moment, but you can go to youtube and search for some beginner tutorials on working with selections and layers in the program that you are using. Hope that helps!

  100. Cathy says:

Wow! These are beyond awesome! I know you said “high resolution” but my eyes still almost popped out when I used them! Thank you so much!

  101. Kim says:

Thank you so much! I have wanted to make “art” for my grandmother will all the family names out of Scrabble letters — it is her favorite game and the family plays when we are all together for holidays. Since there are almost 40 people, it would be impossibly expensive to make this with real game board tiles. I am working on it now thanks to your image & I can’t wait to gift it for Christmas. THANK YOU SO MUCH

  102. Janine says:

Can’t even say how many times your resources have saved me in a pinch. Thank you for your work!

  103. mary says:

I am a schoolteacher and wanted to print these for my special ed class. are they printable???

  104. Super ! Quelle bonne idée ! Merci ?

  105. Kathy Neumann says:

Love these! I affixed the printed sheet to sticky craft foam. I then cut out each letter so I have a set of Scrabble “tiles” that my 3rd graders can use to spell out their spelling words. Thanks!

  106. Jonathan Allen says:

What’s the cost to license these scrabble images for use in a limited-production run for our company? We have a piece that would run about 2K printed copies and a digital version that might be downloaded all of a few hundred times.

    Thanks!What

  107. Lauren says:

I am trying to print the tiles out, but they won’t print when I open them (opening in Windows Photo Viewer). Also, will not allow me to open in another photo app, doesn’t provide the option. Please help me get them printed so I can finish my arts/crafts project!

    • antoniu says:

      Hi Lauren,
After you extract the jpg from the zip, you should be able to open and print the jpg file in any image editor. Maybe try a different program like Paint.net or Gimp. Hope that helps!

  108. Eddie Chu says:

Thank you very much. This is amazing.

  109. Christine says:

I think it’s a really nice touch to have multiples of the letters with different woodgrain. Thanks for the hard work!

  110. George says:

How many letters are there for a custom scrabble game. How many of each letters? I know there are 60 in some games, but a standard game is more tiles

  111. Ursula says:

Woopsie please ignore my previous comment, just went through some of the comments and saw you mention to crop in photoshop. I have that program so will do just that. Thaaaaaaaanks again!!!!

  119. Andy Bower says:

I saw you mentioned that the tiles are (c) Hasbro and I presume that is why they can’t be used for commercial purposes. If that’s the case, would it be possible to use the two blank tiles in a commercial project? TIA

  120. Amber says:
